Vango - More than 170 years experience

1847, yes you read that right, is considered the origin of the Scottish company Vango with the founding of Andrew Mitchell & Co. A full 116 years or 2 world wars and the 1st industrial revolution later, the company acquired James McIlwraith & Sons of Govan, Glasgow, who made what? Tents, of course. As nobody could remember the long and complicated name, they came up with the idea of using the name of the village of Govan as an anagram. Vango simply sounded better and more appropriate and, as things stand today, this name is even more appropriate as Vango also produces air tents for vans. The company went through various development processes and developed numerous outdoor products such as tents, rucksacks and sleeping bags in addition to tents. As an anecdote: professional bivouac tents for Himalayan expeditions were designed on a packet of cigarettes. Vango bivouac tents can still be found in Nepal and on Mount Kilimanjaro. They are also used for expeditions on these mountains. This is certainly a testament to the quality and workmanship of Vango tents.

In 2000 AMG Outdoor Limited was founded to consolidate all the company's activities. AMG distributes some well-known brands in Europe such as Teva and UGG (the famous super warm sheepskin boots). 2010 the company focussed on its core business again and developed its first collection of air tents with the models Velocity and Infinity for 2011, followed by the tent models Kela for campervans and Sepera. In 2013, the first Vango air tents for caravans & caravans were launched on the market. (Sanna & Varkala). In 2016 they celebrated 50 years of Vango and 2017 set a sales record with 100,000 Vango air tents sold!

Vango awnings - innovation, quality, experience & function

If you take a look at Vango's portfolio, you'll be overwhelmed at first glance. That's how we felt when we visited Vango for the first time in Port Glasgow. The 2600 square metre showroom alone, which displays the entire collection of Vango tents, is literally overwhelming. The section of Vango caravan awnings and Vango motorhome awnings was logically the most interesting for us. Here we were able to admire all the current and new Vango air tents and convince ourselves of their quality. The entire Vango company history and the constant striving for improvement speaks for itself and this was also evident on site. So we at Vorzelte Profis can recommend Vango to anyone who wants to buy a Vango tent online with a clear conscience. If you wish, you can take advantage of the many years of experience of Vorzelte Profis and get individual advice on a Vango awning and choose the right awning for you in our Vango online shop.

Vango tents are of course also sustainable and use fabrics made from recycled PET bottles in their Vango EARTH COLLECTION series (e.g. Vango Hexaway, Kela). The Scottish tent & camping brand also has its own repair centre in Scotland, which deals with complaints and repairs and can look back on decades of experience. You don't find this with every company, some have employed external companies, which is not ideal. The huge advantage for a proud Vango tent owner is that you can get help and repair your beloved Vango awning even after years. Vango also has a special website for spare parts for Vango tents that are 15 years old.
