Why does a Dorema Air Daytona / Maribor Air Tube explode?

When it gets hotter than 40 degrees at the campsite during the summer holiday, it can happen that the Dorema Daytona / Maribor Air awning has overpressure problems. If it runs badly, an air strut or tube can burst when the southern sun shines directly on the air awning at 60 or 70 degrees. It can also happen when an air tube is kinked or jammed. When inflating quickly with increased pressure, there are major problems, for example, an incorrectly adjusted electric pump can lead to overpressure. And the air tube bursts at 10 bar! Dorema recommends 0.7 bar, which corresponds to an inflation pressure of 10PSI. As a little help: if you snap your finger against it and you hear a metallic clang, it is the correct pressure of 0.7 bar!

If it is only a hole or a leak, you can also patch or repair it with Tear Aid B without any problems. If the air linkage has burst or exploded, you can try to weld it back together at the end with a commercial foil welder. If the hole or crack is in the middle, the air tube must be replaced in any case in order to restore the full functionality of the Dorema Daytona / Maribor Air. Also, in strong storms and wind, such high pressures can occur that the air struts can be calculated or burst.

How do you get a replacement air tube replaced in a Dorema Daytona / Maribor Air?

Connected air poles: Close the shut-off valve on the connected air poles, open the zip on the hemstitch of the Dorema Horizon full-feeder air tent and, if connected, pull out the white connection hose. Be careful, a black air tube may fall out here. This is to prevent the white hose from kinking and thus ensuring air exchange. Install a new air strut, connect the white connecting hose and open the shut-off valve at the shut-off valve. Then inflate with 0.7 bar / 10 PSI using a double stroke pump or electric air pump.

Single air struts: Open hollow seam by means of zip fastener and simply remove. Insert a new Dorema Daytona / Maribor air tube into the hollow seam, inflate and you're done.
